When deck staining in Atlanta ga,your old weathered deck can be rejuvenated.First I strip wash it then I brighten it,then add a heavy duty semi transparent stain to it.It should look about the same for about 2-5 years and after that it will still look good.The verticle wood will last longer than the horizontal because it doesn’t take a direct hit from the weather.I use twp 200 series on old wood.It is made for cedar shingles,but works great on decks.
For new decks I recommend waiting about 6 months so the wood can dry and allow the stain to penatrate,unless it is kiln dried.
The weather should be above 45 when applying stain and not drop below 37 that night to allow proper penatration and drying.
A solid color deck stain is good also.It will last longer,but look less natural.
